A nine-year-old child has been injured after being chased and bitten by a dog in a Fife village.

The youngster suffered minor injuries in the attack at a house in Crossgates near Dunfermline on Tuesday, April 19.

An 83-year-old man has been reported to the procurator fiscal over the incident.

The case was followed by a sheep worrying case in Ballingry, near Lochgelly, when four animals were killed by a dog.

Four other sheep were injured in the attack on Sunday and the 49-year-old male owner of the dog has been charged.

Sergeant Kenny Bow from the Cowdenbeath Community Investigation Unit said: "Thankfully the dog attack in Crossgates didn't result in more serious injury, however, the death of the sheep in Balingry has resulted in significant financial loss to the farmer.

"It is the responsibility of dog owners and those responsible for supervising dogs to maintain control or face the very serious repercussions should their animal be involved in an incident that puts the public at risk."
