A man has been charged with murdering a father-of-two found in a residential street last month.

Darren Adie, 42 was found unconscious in the middle of a street in Kirkcaldy, Fife, last month and died in hospital shortly after.

He was discovered on Tweed Avenue close to its junction with Lawson Street at around 6.45pm on Saturday May 28.

Detectives launched a major probe and appealed for a number of people who spoke to Mr Adie on the day he was found dead to come forward.

Charity Crimestoppers also offered up a reward of £10,000 for anyone who provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or people responsible.

Police Scotland confirmed on Thursday that a man has been arrested and charged with murdering Mr Adie.

A statement from the force said: "A man has been arrested and charged with the murder of Darren Adie in Kirkcaldy. The 51-year-old is scheduled to appear at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court on Friday."

The arrest comes two days after Mr Adie's parents made an emotional public appeal for the person responsible to come forward.
