Two men were injured in a large-scale disturbance in a residential street in West Lothian.

About a dozen young men and women were seen acting aggressively outside a property in McLeod Street in Broxburn around 4.30am on Saturday.

Two men, aged 21 and 22, were then taken to hospital for treatment but were later discharged.

Police are now appealing for witnesses to come forward with information.

Detective sergeant Graham Garvie said: "We are currently following a positive line of inquiry however a visible police presence will remain in the local area as we continue to investigate this disturbance.

"As part of this inquiry officers will be conducting door-to-door and reviewing the local CCTV network.

"This incident caused a significant distress to nearby residents and we take a zero tolerance approach towards anyone involved in this sort of unacceptable behaviour.

"Needless to say that we are treating this matter extremely seriously and will do everything in our power to trace all of those involved.

"I would urge anyone who has information relevant to our ongoing inquiry to contact police on 101 or the charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111."
