Flybe plane forced to turn back to Edinburgh after 'loud noise'
The 5.15pm flight to Birmingham was forced to return to the airport for checks on Tuesday.
A Flybe plane was forced to return to Edinburgh Airport after a loud noise was heard in mid-air.
The 5.15pm Flybe flight BE852 was en route to Birmingham International when an unusual sound was detected on board.
The 78-seater plane turned around at Peebles and landed safely at Edinburgh Airport at 6.22pm.
It is understood ground staff carried out technical checks on the aircraft.
A Edinburgh Airport spokesman said: "There has been no impact on other flights at the airport and it's business as usual."
A Flybe spokesperson added: "Flybe can confirm that the above flight landed without incident after returning from airborne with a suspected minor technical fault with the aircraft.
"As a precautionary measure in such circumstances, the airport placed its emergency vehicles on standby.
"All 66 passengers disembarked as normal when the aircraft arrived on stand and were re-accommodated on the next available flight.
"Flybe regrets any inconvenience experienced however the safety of its passengers and crew is the airline's number one priority at all times."
