A teacher has been accused of engaging in sexual activity with a pupil in a hotel room after a sixth-year prom.

Isabelle Graham is accused of drinking alcohol with the 17-year-old boy and sharing a bed with him.

Ms Graham faces a hearing at the General Teaching Council for Scotland (GTCS) next week, where she could be struck off is the charges are found proven.

The GTCS charges say the alleged incident took place on the night of June 5, 2016, after a sixth-year prom for a West Lothian school. The teenager is referred to as "Pupil A" in the charges.

Ms Graham is alleged to have accompanied Pupil A and other pupils from a hotel in central Edinburgh to another hotel nearby following the prom.

She is said to have spent approximately three hours alone in a room with him, and shared an alcoholic drink with him.

Ms Graham is also accused of sharing a bed with the pupil and repeatedly engaging in sexual activity with him.

An earlier procedural hearing at the GTCS was told the criminal case against the teacher had been dropped, and she no longer lived in Scotland.

Her representative had requested for the GTCS hearing to take place in private, but this was rejected by the earlier panel.

Ms Graham was suspended by West Lothian Council after the allegations came to light, and she is understood to have since quit her job.

The GTCS hearing is due to start in Edinburgh on Monday.
