A cyclist is in a serious condition in hospital after being hit by a car in Kirkcaldy.

The 54-year-old was struck by a Nissan Qashqai on Oriel Road at the junction with Wester Bogie Road at around 12.30pm on Monday.

The road was closed for several hours to enable road collision officers to investigate at the scene.

The cyclist was taken to the Victoria Hospital, where he is being treated for serious injuries.

Sergeant James Henry, of Fife road policing unit, said: "This collision has left a man with serious injuries and I would ask anyone with any information to please contact us on 101."
