Three fireworks have been set off in an Edinburgh secondary school.

The incident happened at Trinity Academy in the north of the city at about midday on Friday as pupils prepared to go home.

Schools in the city have half days on Fridays, finishing at noon.

No one was injured in the incident and it is understood those responsible have been identified.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "Police in Edinburgh were called to a secondary school in the north of the city at around midday on Friday, September 23 after three fireworks were set off.

"No one was injured in the incident and there is no ongoing risk to pupils or staff. Officers are currently pursuing a positive line of inquiry in relation to this matter."

Trinity Academy posted a tweet shortly after the incident to say there was "no place for this behaviour".
