Police are hunting a man who exposed himself to a woman and her young granddaughter in Selkirk.

The incident took place on Station Road in the Borders town around 6pm on Saturday, October 15.

Officers said the woman and her granddaughter were left "distressed" after the incident.

The man, who may have come from the Muthag Street direction, is described as white, between 30 and 40 and had short dark hair which may have been a wig. He was wearing a dark-coloured dressing gown and outdoor shoes.

Inspector Bryan Burns of Melrose police station said: "This indecent and inappropriate behaviour is totally unacceptable and has left the two witnesses understandably distressed.

"We are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen this individual or who has any information that can assist us in identifying him.

"Anyone with information is asked to contact officers on 101 or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
