A teenager has been arrested after an 18-year-old woman was reportedly raped in a street in Fife.

The alleged attack took place shortly after 2am on Saturday in Pilmuir Street, Dunfermline.

Police said a 17-year-old boy had been arrested in connection with the incident.

On Monday, a Crown Office spokesman said the boy did not appear in court and had been freed from custody pending further enquiries.

He said: "The procurator fiscal received a report concerning a 17-year-old man in connection with an alleged incident said to have occurred on October 29, 2016.

"After full and careful consideration of the facts and circumstances of the case, he was liberated from custody pending further enquiries and did not appear in court."
