A man has suffered serious burns after a huge blaze ripped through a Chinese takeaway in Edinburgh.

Almost 20 firefighters were called out to tackle the fire a huge blaze at the Taste of China in Calder Park, Sighthill, after a fire ripped through the restaurant on Monday afternoon.

Six pumps and one height appliance were scrambled to the scene at around 12.50pm after smoke was seen billowing from the roof of the terraced takeaway.

One man was taken by ambulance to Edinburgh Royal Infirmary with serious burns.

A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said 17 firefighters were in attendance at the height of the fire along with one officer.

It took fire crews, who were faced with a "well-established fire", over two hours to bring the blaze under control.
