Two people have been charged with attempted murder after 36-year-old man was attacked in his West Lothian home.

The arrests come after a man was taken to hospital with cuts to his head and puncture wounds to his neck following an alleged assault at a property in Glebe Road, Whitburn, on Saturday morning.

Christopher Houston, 28, and Sharon McSeveney or McFarlane, 33, both appeared at Livingston Sheriff Court charged with attempted murder and assault to injury.

They were also charged with vandalism and acting in a threatening or abusive manner.

Both made no plea or declaration.

Houston, of Bathgate, was remanded in custody.

McSeveney or McFarlane, also from Bathgate, was bailed.
