Young cat found tied up in plastic bag and dumped in play park
A woman heard Carrie crying from a clump of bushes at Ormiston play park in Tranent, East Lothian.
A young cat was found tied up in a plastic bag and dumped in bushes at a play park.
A woman discovered the feline after hearing cries coming from a clump of bushes at Ormiston play park in Tranent, East Lothian just before 5pm on Sunday.
She opened a tightly tied white plastic bag to find the small cat and called the Scottish SPCA.
The animal, who has been named Carrie, was "extremely stressed" but uninjured and is recovering at the charity’s Edinburgh rehoming centre.
Animal Rescue Officer Stephanie Grant said: "When I arrived to collect Carrie she was extremely stressed out and tried desperately to escape. We now know she is a friendly cat but she was acting aggressively towards me, which is understandable given the terrifying situation she'd just been in.
"It would appear that Carrie has been cruelly and deliberately abandoned therefore we are appealing to anyone who recognises her or knows anything about this incident to contact us."
Anyone who recognises Carrie is asked to call the animal welfare charity on 03000 999 999.
