Taylor Swift has been excused from jury duty in an aggravated rape and kidnapping case as the judge thought she couldn't be impartial.

The pop star told the judge she has a pending civil case in which DJ allegedly fondled her a backstage during a concert.

Swift was sued by David Mueller, a former radio host, in September last year, stating that he lost his job because of false accusations he grabbed the singer's buttocks backstage during a 2013 photo shoot.

Swift launched a counterclaim the following month, in which attorneys said she had been "surprised, upset, offended, and alarmed" by the alleged assault.

Swift was the most high-profile absence at the MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs).

Her whereabouts was revealed when the singer took photos with fans afterreporting for jury duty in Nashville.
