A new Polish wartime drama is to air on the STV Glasgow and Edinburgh channels this month.

1920. War and Love follows on from the drama Czas Honoru (Days of Honour), which was shown on the channels from January 2015.

The new 13-part subtitled series is set in the struggle for an independent Poland, beginning in the summer of 1918 during the final days of the First World War.

Vladek, Joseph and Bronek - three Poles serving in the Prussian, Austrian, and Russian armies - escape from the frontline and meet on their journey home to a newly formed Poland.

Elizabeth Partyka, deputy director of channels at STV, said: "STV's city TV channels are committed to broadcasting non-English speaking content as part of a distinctive schedule that includes quality acquisitions.

"1920. War and Love offers an insight into a fascinating period in post-WWI history and, following the popularity of Czas Honoru, we are confident that this series will become a must-watch for drama fans."

The new series will air on the channels from Friday at 9pm.
