Singer-songwriter Pete Burns has died suddenly of a "massive cardiac arrest" aged 57, a statement on his official Twitter account has announced.

The statement, signed by his manager Steve Coy and including his civil partner Michael Simpson and ex-wife Lynne Corlett, said he died on Sunday.

Burns shot to fame as frontman for band Dead or Alive in the 1980s, best known for the 1985 hit 'You Spin Me Right Round'.
