A Highland wind farm could be rejected over concerns the turbines would interfere with military radar.

Wind Harvest wants to build three 240ft turbines at the Hill of Lynchrobbie near Dunbeath in Caithness.

The Ministry of Defence (MoD) has objected to the project on the grounds it could cause problems for radar at RAF Lossiemouth in Moray.

Planning officials have recommended councillors reject the scheme at a meeting on March 22 despite its potential financial benefits. All profits from the turbines would go to communities in Berriedale and Dunbeath.

But planners added they would be unable to support the development regardless of the MoD’s objection because its impact on the landscape would be "significantly detrimental".

Officials reported: "The MoD have started that the development has been given the utmost scrutiny and that the objection has been thoroughly considered. It is evident that the air safety issues have not been resolved."
