The family of a climber missing in the Highlands for two months say they are "longing for closure".

Jim Robertson was reported missing after he failed to return from a trip to the Cairngorms in time for his birthday on March 4.

No trace has been found of the 61-year-old despite an extensive search led by the Braemar Mountain Rescue Team.

His family believe he died on March 2 on Ben Macdui, a mountain near where he was staying on the Mar Lodge Estate.

They have raised nearly £12,000 for Braemar MRT as searches continue in the Cairn Toul, Ben Macdui and Garbh Choire areas.

Mr Robertson's daughter Lynn said: "Our family are still longing for closure and the chance to say goodbye but thankfully the rescue teams have no plans to stop the search for our dad.

"The commitment that they continue to show means everything to us. We are also extremely grateful for the kindness of both strangers and friends who have helped raise money for Braemar Mountain Rescue.

"It brings us great comfort to know that this money will support their invaluable work and allow them to help others.

"Although this is an extremely painful time, we are trying to find positive ways to honour our dad's memory.

"As well as setting up the JustGiving page, we have signed up to take part in Aberdeen Mountain Rescue's sponsored walk in June and have donated most of my dad's belongings to people in need.

"We know that this would make him very proud. He may still be lost but we will always hold him safely in our hearts."
