A hillwalker who disappeared after setting off on a walk in the Highlands at the weekend has been found safe.

Mark Flinn, 68, was last seen leaving his accommodation in Achintraid in Wester Ross at around 9am on Sunday.

A major search operation was launched by Police Scotland and mountain rescue teams in the Loch Kishorn area in a bid to find Mr Flinn.

Police confirmed on Monday afternoon that he had been found safe on a mountain, where he was in need of "slight medical attention".

Police Scotland said officers wanted to thank everyone involved in the search, with particular thanks to Torridon Mountain Rescue team.

A police spokesman said: "Mr Flinn isn't seriously injured and will receive treatment at Raigmore Hospital, Inverness."
