A yacht which ran aground in the Highlands has been refloated with the help of the RNLI.

The May Dream broke its moorings and ran aground at Plockton Bay near Skye early on Monday morning.

The crew of the 36-foot yacht was trying to secure the boat to the shore when the RNLI crew arrived at 4.15am.

They stood by for several hours before escorting the May Dream to Kyle Habour at 10.30am.

A spokesman for Kyle of Lochalsh RNLI said: "Our volunteer crew were paged at 3.55am on Monday to assist a yacht which had broken its moorings, ran aground and was listing dangerously with the receding tide.

"Once the yacht had refloated and was in deeper water, the lifeboat escorted it to a safe mooring before returning to Kyle at 10.30am."
