A landslip has been cleared after it left motorists facing a 60-mile diversion.

The A830 was shut after more than 100 tonnes of rock and earth cascaded across the road and nearby railway tracks at Lochailort in the Highlands on Thursday evening.

Teams from roads agency Bear Scotland shifted the debris over the weekend and the route reopened on Monday.

A ScotRail spokesman said: "Services between Fort William, Mallaig and Glasgow Queen Street are now running following an earlier landslip."

A NetworkRail spokesman added: "The landslide on the Fort William to Mallaig line was cleared over weekend and the line reopened this morning as planned."
