An 84-year-old woman who died after being rescued from the River Conan has been named.

Elizabeth Sutherland was pulled from the water between Dingwall and Conon Bridge on Saturday but later died at hospital in Inverness.

Ms Sutherland, who was from the Conon Bridge area, was named by police on Monday.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "Police Scotland can confirm the identity of the female rescued from the River Conon at around 6.20pm on Saturday to be Elizabeth Sutherland of Conon Bridge."

The emergency services were first alerted after Ms Sutherland was seen in the water near Ferry Point.
