A teenage girl who was reported missing after failing to return home from an overnight trip has been traced "safe and well".

Olivia Nimmo, of Beauly in the Highlands, had last been seen in Inverness city centre where she was due to board a bus to Glasgow on Saturday afternoon.

The 16-year-old had failed to make a return trip home, leading to a missing persons appeal being launched on Tuesday.

On Wednesday, Police Scotland confirmed she had been found.

A force spokeswoman said: "Police can confirm that Olivia Nimmo, aged 16, who was reported missing from the Inverness area, has been traced safe and well in Glasgow this afternoon. Many thanks to everyone who assisted."
