A litter of three lynx cubs are exploring their home at Highland Wildlife Park.

The tiny trio were born on May 26 and are the fifth litter born to mates Dimma and Switch in Kingussie since 2012.

Lynx are reared at Highland Wildlife Park as part of a coordinated national breeding programme.

The species was hunted to extinction in the UK about 1300 years ago but a campaign to reintroduce the lynx to Britain's wilderness is now under way.

Carnivore team leader Vickie Larkin said: "We are incredibly pleased to have had lynx cubs again this year.

"The cubs are doing well and are extremely playful.

"Dimma and Switch arrived at the park in 2012 and have had a litter of cubs every year since their arrival, which is testament to the team's husbandry experience as well as their spacious enclosure."

Highland Wildlife Park also welcomed triplets in May last year.
