A charity container filled with clothing was deliberately set alight in the Highlands.

The unit and its contents were destroyed between Friday night and Saturday morning in Drumnadrochit by Loch Ness.

Youths were seen playing with fireworks nearby and police believe the fire was started deliberately.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "Officers from the Aird and Loch Ness Policing Team are appealing for information following a fire at a charity clothes recycling container in Drumnadrochit, near the tourist information office.

"Between 5pm on Friday and 10.30am on October 22, it is suspected clothing within the container was deliberately set on fire.

"It is believed youths were in the car park area at the time and fireworks were being used.

"Anyone with information to assist enquiries is encouraged to make contact with officers on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
