Mexican flags are being flown on the border of Donald Trump's Aberdeenshire golf course ahead of his latest visit to Scotland.

One flag was raised a short distance from Trump International Golf Links at the weekend, while another is flying from a home overlooking the course.

Presidential hopeful Mr Trump plans to visit both his Scottish courses this week before returning to the US.

The larger flagpole was erected on Sunday by local resident Michael Forbes, who featured in Anthony Baxter's award-winning documentary You've Been Trumped.

David Milne, who owns the other Mexican flag at the Menie Estate, said: "The flag is there to show support and solidarity with the Mexican people and anyone else who has been intimidated by Trump and his flunkies."

Mr Trump, who is the presumptive nominee for the Republican Party in the 2016 US election, opened his Aberdeenshire links in 2012.

Work recently began on an offshore wind farm a few miles from the Menie Estate, despite a long-running legal battle which has caused a spat between the billionaire and former First Minister Alex Salmond.
