Firefighters spent more than six hours tackling a major blaze at a house under renovation.

Emergency services were called to the fire in Aberdeen on Wednesday night after a member of the public spotted smoke and flames in a window of the building.

The property in the city's Inchgarth Road was understood to have been getting renovated before the blaze. Fire crews were alerted to the blaze at around 9.20pm.

More than 40 firefighters tackled the inferno at its peak and the last crew left the scene at around 3.50am on Thursday. No one was injured.

A spokeswoman for Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: "A total of 43 firefighters were involved - six fire engines, an incident command unit, incident support van, height vehicle, water carrier and welfare unit.

"The last fire appliance left the scene at 3.54am. There is a fire investigation under way and investigators will return to the scene."
