Hundreds of ducks have been taken from a farm in Aberdeenshire.

Thieves stole about 230 ducks from a shed in Laurencekirk in the early hours of August 19.

Police believe they may have used a truck or transit van to transport the animals, which are worth more than £1000.

Investigating officer Marc Camus said: "The breeds of ducks taken are not common and are difficult to source.

"The ducks may therefore be offered for sale to other poultry farmers.

"If anyone has any information about this incident they are asked to call Police Scotland on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
