Police investigating a serious sexual assault on a woman have made a fresh appeal for information one month on.

The attack happened between 10pm and 10.30pm on Murray Street in New Elgin, Moray, on July 27.

Officers are seeking a man seen in the area around the time of the assault, which involved a woman in her 30s.

Detective chief inspector Colin Morrans said: "Several positive lines of inquiry are being followed in relation to this inquiry and, as such, I would like to thank those people who have assisted us so far.

"My message to anyone who thinks they might have seen something that night but have not yet come forward is to urge them to make contact with police as soon as possible.

"I would like to take this opportunity once again to stress that we are treating this as an isolated incident and reassure the public that incidents of this nature are extremely rare."

The man police are seeking is believed to be in his late 20s to early 40s, with a slim build, round face and bald or balding head which may be shaved.

He was wearing a white T-shirt, dark tracksuit bottoms and trainers and carrying a white carrier back during the attack.

Anyone with any information has been asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
