A worker has died in hospital after falling from scaffolding in Aberdeen.

The man was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary with serious injuries at 1.10pm on Wednesday.

He died shortly afterwards, prompting an investigation by the Health and Safety Executive.

It is unclear what caused the man to fall from the scaffolding on Jute Street.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "Officers were called to attend a report of an injured man on Jute Street following a work-related incident on Wednesday.

"The man was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary but sadly died shortly after arrival.

"Enquiries are at an early stage and a joint investigation with the Health and Safety Executive is ongoing. No further details are available at this time."
