A house has been left badly damaged after a blaze broke out in a neighbouring garage.

Fire crews were called to the home near Castle Fraser in Aberdeenshire at about 8.45pm on Tuesday.

Firefighters in breathing gear spent three hours tackling the blaze, which was extinguished at 11.40pm.

A spokesman for the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service said: "We were called at 8.45pm, initially sending two appliances, followed by three more and a water carrier.

"The fire began in a garage and they used hose reel jets, breathing apparatus and a thermal camera to extinguish it.

"The stop message came back at 11.40pm."
