Charges have been dropped against visiting football fans arrested over an alleged disturbance following an Aberdeen v NK Maribor game.

The group from Slovenia were originally detained following an incident in the city on July 29, the day after a Europa League tie.

Police arrested a total of 16 men and 13 were charged over a "minor disturbance" at the Holiday Inn in Chapel Street following the game at Pittodrie, which finished 1-1.

The Crown Office confirmed it has dropped all charges against the Slovenian men.

The case against three men from the north east is expected to call next month.

A spokesman said: "The procurator fiscal in Aberdeen received a report concerning ten individuals in connection with alleged offences on July 29, 2016.

"After full and thorough consideration of the facts and circumstances, the procurator fiscal decided there should be no further action."
