Two men have appeared in court after an incident outside an Aldi supermarket in Aberdeen that left a man in hospital.

The "altercation" happened outside the shop on Foresterhill Road in Cornhill at 9.30pm on Tuesday.

The man was taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary but is not believed to have suffered life-threatening injuries.

Police said the alleged altercation appeared to have been a "targeted attack".

Paul Douglas and Jay Longmuir, both 23, appeared in private at Aberdeen Sheriff Court on Thursday accused of having a firearm or imitation firearm in public, as well facing charges relating to having offensive weapons and blades in their possession.

They are also accused of having controlled drugs in their possession and being concerned in the supply of drugs.

Douglas, from Dundee, and Longmuir, from Kirriemuir, Angus, both made no plea or declaration.

The pair were released on bail and the date for their next court appearance has not been set.
