Three men have been left injured after being assaulted by a gang in a homophobic street attack.

The incident took place at around 3am on Friday when the victims were approached by four men as they walked near the McDonald's Restaurant on Reform Street, Dundee.

The gang subjected the three men to homophobic abuse before launching an assault that left them requiring hospital treatment.

Emergency services attended and took the victims to a nearby hospital were they were treated for minor injuries.

CCTV images from the night show the gang walking away along High Street to the taxi rank opposite Union Street, where they got in a white taxi, possibly a Dacia.

Officers investigating the incident are now appealing for information as they bid to trace those responsible and have released descriptions of the suspects who are all white and described as being in their early 20s.

The first is described as having a large build with dark hair, at the time of the incident he was wearing a white top, black jacket, dark trousers and dark shoes.

The second is described as tall with dark hair, he was wearing a dark jacket, white shorts and black shoes.

The third is slim and was wearing a black short sleeve shirt, black trousers and white shoes.

Finally, the fourth suspect is described only as wearing all black clothing.
