Craft beer company BrewDog have announced plans to continue their takeover of the craft beer world – by opening a new bar in Stockholm at the end of March.

The new bar is just the tip of the iceberg however, and further plans are in action to bring the beer to places as far flung as Brazil, Belgium and Japan.

Currently exporting to over 30 countries, demand for the products is phenomenal and following the success of a new state-of-the-art brewery in Ellon, the company's expansion serves as an example of the popularity of beer 'crafted by punks'.

Neil Taylor, Area Manager for Brewdog, said: "[The opening of the bar] has been in discussion for most of last year and the wheels are in motion for Stockholm to open at the end of March. We have a great partnership in Stockholm and in Sao Paulo, where we also plan to open a bar in May."

Sites for both bars have already been cherry-picked and work has begun to turn the buildings into the slick watering holes that many parts of the UK have come to know and love. Usual features like exposed brick work and iron staircases will be on the cards, alongside the obvious variety of punk beers for customers to sample.

Sweden is no stranger to BrewDog. The beer they export to the country is the second most popular tipple in the Fjords after lager.

BrewDog even created a small batch of beer called Hello My Name Is Ingrid, a double IPA infused with native fruit cloudberries, to export to drinkers in the country.

They sold like hot tosca tortes (Swedish pastries) and set the company record for the fastest selling beer in alcohol off-sales ever.

The special edition drink went down so well that a Scottish edition, with brambles, is already in the works.

There has been huge public interest after plans for the bar were announced, with over 4000 likes cultivated on its dedicated Facebook page in a short space of time.

On January 29, spades were officially in the ground as construction work began on the Stockholm bar and excited fans were given a sneak peek at works on the spiral staircase.

The new bar will stock worldwide favourite Punk IPA, as well as the specially crafted Swedish beer.

The expansion of the brand to other countries will be a fruitful mission for Brewdog, adding 10 to 12 new members of staff to the company for each bar. Existing employees will also have the chance to work at the new locations to make sure each venue is up to scratch.

Mr Taylor added: "Wherever you are in the world, the Brewdog experience will be the same. The beer will be the same and the standard of service will be the same.

"It’s an amazing career opportunity for our existing staff who can spread the message of Brewdog through a great three-month placement abroad."
