A pair of SNP supporters who want Scotland to leave the European Union have launched a pro-Brexit campaign.

The SNP supporters behind the group, Don Morrison and David Robertson, believe Scotland would gain more national sovereignty outwith the EU.

Morrisson, an SNP member for 50 years and former chair of a party branch, says Scotland being able to "govern ourselves" is "impossible" while being a member of the EU.

Morrison said: "I joined the SNP 50 years ago to fight for independence, now I'm being asked to vote against it. Inside the EU we have zero say and unelected officials govern our country. I want to see an independent Scotland, where we can govern ourselves and make our own decisions - that simply isn't possible within the European Union

"The EU has decimated Scottish fishing and agriculture, the EU dictates what immigration policy Scotland can or can't have.

"I can't for the life of me understand why the SNP, who said we can do it during the independence referendum, are now saying we can't be successful outside the European Union. What is the point in securing independence from Westminster just to hand it over to Brussels"

Fellow SNP supporter David Robertson said the Scottish Parliament would have "more control" over Scotland if the country left the EU but Nicola Sturgeon and her government "don't seem to want it".

Robertson said: "The EU is no friend of Scotland. Decisions about our future are made by people we don't elect in Brussels. For anyone who is a democrat, that surely isn't an acceptable situation.

"As an SNP supporter, I want to see the Scottish Parliament, and our elected Scottish politicians make the decisions. I don't understand why we're being asked to vote against more powers for the Scottish Parliament. Nicola and our SNP government in Scotland could have more control if we left, yet they don't seem to want it"
