Two SNP MPs are to table Private Members Bills on Wednesday, following a ballot in the House of Commons.

East Dunbartonshire MP John Nicolson topped the ballot and will table a Bill which will allow for those convicted of sexual offences which have since been abolished to be pardoned.

The ballot in May saw 458 MPs put their names forward, competing for 20 slots.

Banff and Buchan MP Eilidh Whiteford will also submit a Bill in Parliament on Wednesday.

Dr Whiteford's bill would see the UK ratify the Istanbul convention on tackling domestic violence.

Mr Nicolson's Bill could secure pardons for gay men who were convicted for offences which are no longer on the statute book.
