Hillend closed after high winds cause damage
Midlothian Snowsports Centre shut on Friday to assess the damage and will remain closed over the weekend.
Hillend ski slope will remain shut until Tuesday morning at the earliest after the high winds caused damage to the centre.
Midlothian Snowsports Centre was closed on Friday to assess the damage and Midlothian Council has now taken the decision to keep it shut over the weekend.
A Midlothian Council spokesperson said: “Midlothian Snowsports Centre at Hillend is closed due to high winds. It will remain closed on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.
“Areas of Midlothian Snowsports Centre have been damaged by the recent severe weather. Our priority is safety and work is being carried out to make the centre safe.
“It is too early to give details of the damage. The situation at the centre will be assessed on Monday. At this stage we cannot say how long the centre will remain closed.”
The centre saw an influx of visitors during the big freeze as snow fell on the hills surrounding Edinburgh.
