Two teenagers have been arrested after ecstasy tablets were found by police in a car.

Officers stopped a man and woman, aged 18 and 19 respectively, in a vehicle in Renfrewshire in the early hours of Sunday.

Police recovered a quantity of ecstasy pills in the car in Provost Close, Johnstone, and arrested the pair in connection with offences under the Misuse of Drugs Act. A report will be sent to the procurator fiscal.

A statement from Police Scotland said: "Around 1.30am on Sunday, an 18-year-old male and 19-year-old female were stopped by police in their motor car in Provost Close, Johnstone, Renfrewshire, and allegedly found in possession of dealing quantities of ecstasy tablets, and will appear from custody at Paisley Sheriff Court."
