A search has been launched for the owner of a black Labrador cross after a member of the public found her abandoned at a train station.

Spotted alone on the platform at Hillington West, she was taken to Glasgow Central Station and handed into British Transport Police after no one came forward to claim her.

The dog is now in the care of the Scottish SPCA's Glasgow Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre in Cardonald, where she has been named Hope.

Centre manager Anna O'Donnell said: "The woman who handed Hope in was concerned and didn't want to leave her alone on the platform.

"We believe Hope may have had pups recently and she is quite distinctive as she has a bald patch over the bridge of her nose.

"Hope is a very friendly girl with a lovely nature and she is doing well in our care.

"At this stage we don't know how Hope came to be at the train station and we are appealing to anyone with information to contact us."

Anyone with information is being urged to contact the charity's animal helpline on 03000 999999.
