A search has been launched for a woman who was last seen at Glasgow Central Station.

Caron Findlay, 52, was travelling home to Motherwell from Essex when she arrived at the station around 6.15pm on Tuesday.

She contacted her family after arriving but has not been heard from since. She was captured on CCTV footage in and around the station.

Police said her family is "very close knit" and keep in constant contact with each other.

Ms Findlay, a grandmother, has never gone missing before and her family have grown extremely worried.

Police have appealed for anyone with information on her whereabouts to come forward.

Sergeant Stewart Rae said: "We are liaising with our counterparts at British Transport Police and reviewing CCTV images.

"At this time, we don't know where Caron may have gone and I am appealing to anyone who was in the train station, who may have seen Caron to get in touch with us.

"Her family is understandably distressed by the fact that she's missing and just want her home safe and well.

"If anyone has any information or knowledge about Caron or her whereabouts, please contact us."

Ms Findlay is described as around 5ft 4 in tall, with a slim build, green eyes and auburn collar-length hair. She has a tattoo on her arm which says "Zander".

She was wearing a navy coat, grey jogging trousers and black shoes. She had a blue suitcase, a grey leather handbag and a canvas shopping bag with a photograph of one of her grandchildren printed on it.

Anyone with information has been asked to contact Motherwell police office on 101.
