A man is being hunted by police after launching racist abuse at passengers on a city centre bus.

Police have launched an investigation after the incident on a First Bus in Glasgow city centre on the night of Friday April 22.

The man got on the 4A bus in the city's Renfield Street at around 9.15pm before launching a racist tirade and shouting offensive remarks at a number of members of the public.

He was asked to stop by one of the passengers but the racist rant continued until he got off the bus at Eglinton Toll in the south side of the city.

The man is described as white, 32-39 years of age, 6ft 2in tall with blond hair and a distinctive pointed nose. He was wearing a v-neck jumper, black trousers.

Sergeant Stevie Scott, at Baird Street Police Office, said: "This man's behaviour on the bus was totally unacceptable and he must be traced. Officers are continuing to carry out enquiries in an effort to gather more information on the man responsible.

"I would also like to thank the passenger who contacted police and reported this matter, indicating clearly that such offensive behaviour will not be tolerated.

"I would urge any other witnesses to this incident or anyone with information that will assist this police investigation to contact Police Scotland on 101."
