Three people have been taken to hospital after a three-car crash on a main road.

Police and emergency services attended the scene on Pollokshaws Road in Shawlands in the south side of Glasgow at about 3pm where they found five people were involved in the smash, with three of them hurt.

Two women, one in her 50s and one in her 20s, as well as a man in his 40s were all taken to hospital by ambulance although it is not thought their injuries are life-threatening.

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: "Around 3pm on Wednesday three cars were involved in a road traffic collision on Pollokshaws Road between Queens Drive and Torrisdale Street.

"Five people were involved and three have been taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment.

"The road was closed between Queen's Drive and Torrisdale Street."
