A man has been arrested after a stand off with riot police in the east end of Glasgow.

The 20-year-old was detained by officers after he allegedly barricaded himself into a property in London Road at around 12pm on Thursday.

During the incident, the street was closed to all traffic between Green Street and Bain Street.

Police in protective gear used riot shields during the disturbance, while negotiators were also called out.

A spokeswoman for the force said: "Around 12pm on Thursday, police were called to a report of a man causing a disturbance within a property in London Road, Glasgow.

"Divisional officers attended and were assisted by specialist officers, including forge negotiators. A 20-year-old man was arrested and detained in connection with the incident. Nobody was injured."
