Two men have appeared in court charged with murdering a father-of-four in South Ayrshire.

Kern Allison, 18, and Nicholas Goodwin, 24, are accused of killing 44-year-old John Kiltie, who was found slumped outside his home in Girvan on Saturday.

Allison, of Maybole, South Ayrshire, and Goodwin, of Ayr, made no pleas nor declarations at Ayr Sheriff Court and were remanded in custody for further investigation.

Police launched a murder inquiry after the results of a post-mortem examination of Mr Kiltie, who was a Stagecoach bus driver.

Meanwhile, officers announced the arrest of a third man, aged 27, over the death on Park Road.

Police activity continued at the scene, with local residents being signed in and out of the cordoned-off street.

An air ambulance landed beside nearby Girvan Primary School on Saturday as police officers tried to revive Mr Kiltie.

Speaking after the third arrest, a spokesman for Police Scotland said a report would be sent to the procurator fiscal.
