Women assaulted on train after Rod Stewart concert
The two passengers were injured while travelling home from Kilmarnock on Saturday.
A pair of women were assaulted in an "unprovoked" attack on a train after a Rod Stewart concert in East Ayrshire.
The women were on a service running from Kilmarnock to Glasgow Central station when the assault took place at around 12.30am on Saturday, June 18.
Rod Stewart had been playing a concert at Rugby Park in Kilmarnock on the Friday evening.
British Transport Police are appealing for witnesses following the attack.
Detective constable John McPhilemy, the investigating officer, said: "The two passengers both sustained injuries to their face, fingers and ribs from an attack that appears to be entirely unprovoked.
"The service was very busy with a number of returning passengers who had earlier attended the Rod Stewart concert in Kilmarnock.
"BTP takes all offences on the rail network extremely seriously, and I would appeal to any passenger who may have witnessed or recorded this incident to come forward and contact us."
