Shots have been fired at a house in an upmarket suburb during a late-night gun attack.

A major investigation has been launched after the house in Clarkston, East Renfrewshire, was targeted by a gunman in the early hours of Friday.

Those responsible shot through a window of the house on Dorian Drive at around 12.05am, leaving it extensively damaged and laden with bullet holes.

Police were called to the scene shortly after and the street was sealed off while investigations got under way.

Officers confirmed that the 49-year-old male householder and his two daughters, aged 20 and 25, were in the house at the time of the attack.

Detective Sergeant Dougie Stevenson of Pollok Police Office said today: "Police inquiries are ongoing after a firearm was discharged at a house in Dorian Drive, Clarkston, at around 12.05am on Friday.

"Fortunately the 49 year-old man who lives in the house, and his two daughters aged 20 and 25 years were uninjured.

"Police enquiries are at an early stage to establish a potential motive for this crime, however, a thorough investigation will be carried out into the circumstances, and to trace whoever is responsible.

"Local officers have been carrying out door to door enquiries and are gathering CCTV images from the local area to gather more information.

"Crimes of this nature are very rare, however I can understand the concerns that the public may have. I would like to reassure the local community that there are extra police patrols in the area, and anyone with concerns should speak to police.

"I would urge any witnesses to this crime, or anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area to contact police as soon as possible by contacting Pollok Police Office through 101.
