The body of a man who has been missing for six days has been recovered from the River Clyde.

Andrew Stewart, 48, was last seen at his home on Canmore Street in the east end of Glasgow at around 8am on Sunday.

Police confirmed the body pulled from the Clyde near Glasgow Green on Friday morning was that of Mr Stewart.

A police spokeswoman said: "Around 9.05am on Friday, the body of a man was recovered from the River Clyde near to Glasgow Green.

"The body has now been formally identified as that of Andrew Stewart who was reported missing from the Parkhead area on Sunday 19 June 2016.

"The death is not being treated as suspicious at this time and a report will be submitted to the procurator fiscal."
