Murder probe after elderly man stabbed to death in street
A murder inquiry is under way following the incident in the Bridgeton area of Glasgow.
An elderly man has been murdered in a knife attack on a Glasgow street.
Detectives launched a murder inquiry following the incident in Bridgeton at 12.25am on Wednesday.
The man, who has not been identified, was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary but died a short time later from stab wounds.
Officers cordoned off several roads around Abercromby Street while they carried out investigations and an officer was stationed outside a house in nearby Green Street on Wednesday morning.
Forensic officers were also on the scene scouring the area and taking pictures for evidence. They examined a council refuse truck in the street.
A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "At around 12.25am an elderly man was stabbed on Abercromby Street, near Stevenson Street, in Bridgeton, Glasgow.
"He was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary and died a short time later. We have launched a murder investigation and enquiries are continuing."
As a result of the police cordon, Bridgeton Health Centre was closed meaning people are having to sign in and have appointments rearranged.
