Hundreds of mourners have attended the funeral of a deaf mother-of-four who went missing on a night out.

Kirsty Aitchison, from Robroyston, disappeared after a night out with friends at Campus in Glasgow city centre on June 12.

Around 200 friends and family turned out to pay their respects to the popular mother as she was laid to rest on Thursday.

Many of those who attended the funeral at Daldowie Crematorium in Uddingston wore pink as a mark of respect to Ms Aitchison.

The Temptations' song My Girl was played as the coffin was carried in to the chapel.

Civil celebrant Jim Allan, who led the service, said: "That unmistakable song was chosen by Fay in memory of her one-in-a-million girl who was taken too soon."

British Sign Language interpreters relayed what was spoken to the many deaf friends she had made.

Mr Allan said: "Kirsty adored her children. Each and every one of them. And she also loved shopping. She would set out to buy stuff for herself but then when she came back she'd always come back with bags of stuff for the kids instead.

"Before she would buy anything for herself, she would be buying for the kids. She loved shopping, she was the original shopaholic. Her mother tells me that she was the 'Gok Wan of the deaf community.'

"She loved her clothes, she loved having her nails along with those fantastic hair extensions of hers.

"She loved a mirror and recently started taking driving lessons. Her sisters weren't so sure it was a good idea.

"They said 'For a start, you wouldn't want to be a passenger in that car but the biggest problem with the car is that there's too many mirrors.

"They're everywhere. She'd be accelerating and when she went to change gears she'd be putting on her lipstick."

Ms Aitchison's two oldest daughters Lauren, 13, and Mia, 10, joined their father Stuart at the touching ceremony.

Last week, well-wishers released hundreds of pink balloons over the Clyde from Broomielaw where she was found.

Flowers were also laid at the scene. Her mother, Fay Aitchison, 56, attended the event and set off a balloon with her daughter's name on it.

A fundraising page was also set up to help Ms Aitchison's family and has also reached almost £12,000 in donations since the weekend.

The crowd-funding page paid tribute to a "fantastic" mother, with the donations due to go to the futures of her children.

After leaving the Campus nightclub, Ms Aitchison was later spotted on CCTV walking with no shoes on near the Clyde, sparking a huge search operation.

The 30-year-old's body was recovered from the river a week later. Her death is not being treated as suspicious.
