A man is in hospital after a car came of a main road and ploughed into a bus stop.

Police and emergency services were called to the incident in Netherlee, East Renfrewshire, at around 2.45pm on Thursday.

A man has been taken to hospital for treatment after the car hit him when it careered onto a pavement and through a bus stop on Clarkston Road.

His injuries are not though to be life-threatening and the female drive of the car was treated at the scene but did not need hospital treatment.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "Around 2.45pm on Thursday police received a report of a car having struck a man on Clarkston Road.

"The man was taken by ambulance to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment. His injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

"The female driver of the car received treatment at the scene. Inquiries are ongoing."
